Myrrh essential oil

With an experience of over 200 years in the natural raw materials for the perfume and cosmetic industry, Charabot is able to produce for you absolute and essential oil of myrrh.

Origin and uses of the myrrh essential oil

Commiphora myrrha is a shrub up to 3 meters high and belongs to the Burseraceae family. It is found in dry, arid and desert regions like the Arabian Peninsula (Oman, Yemen…) and Africa (Somalia, Ethiopia…). At the end of the summer, this scrawny tree with twisted branches and full of thorns covers itself with orange-red flowers and its trunk swells with knots. Of these knots will then flow resin: myrrh. It is harvested once dry and can then be used for the production of essential oil.

Charabot is specialized in the manufacture and distribution of raw materials for the fragrance and cosmetic industry for over 200 years. We offer you a complete products catalogue; you will find our various myrrh essential oils, but also other products serving both the needs of the perfumery, aromatherapy and cosmetic industry.

The myrrh essential oils properties

Charabot offers myrrh essential oil obtained by steam distillation. It is 100% pure and natural and can be kept on shelf for 12 months. The olfactive profile of this essential oil is ambery, vanilla, aromatic, woody and also recalls the smell of mushrooms and liquorice.

We also offer you myrrh absolute. The latter differs from the essential oil by its extraction process. Rather than using steam distillation, myrrh absolute is obtained by extraction using volatile solvents followed by purification in alcohol. The olfactive profile of this absolute is ambery, vanilla and balsamic.

Our catalogue also contains other myrrh absolute obtained by high temperature heating process. This is an exclusive process of our company, corresponding to a very high temperature cracking of the absolute. Myrrh absolute HT has an ambery, vanillic, balsamic, liquorice and pyrogenic olfactive profile.
